Happy Heads – Benoit+Bo
22.06 > 3.11.2019
One is French, the other is Chinese. Benoit+Bo stands for two cultures, two backgrounds, two sensivities using their respective heritage to create surprising contemporary works which combine East and West and present a half amusing and half bitter look at the world surrounding us.
This artist duo which has participated in exhibitions in Europe, but also in Hong Kong and Australia, takes us into an extremely colourful parallel universe in which they reinterprete a series of masks made of papier mâché traditionally worn at the Lantern festival in China.
Happy Heads juxtaposes their works with the collections of the Carnival and Mask Museum in such a way that a link is created between the past (the traditional ritual) and the present (the view of this ritual by contemporary artists).
